Dive Buddies Weekly

Here's the thread for Dec. 22 - 28th.... Good tidings and Joy for the Yule Season!!

(All you Cozumel divers, you are sooooo missing out on all this action up here) :P

So, it appears Porteau Cove in B.C. is the happin' dive site this weekend... I think I'll just toss that out there.

For dives in Canada, remember to bring your passport or drivers license + birth cert, and your sense of adventure!

Of course, this thread is for finding dive buddies any time of the week, anywhere. So if you would like to find a buddy, shout out your when/where desires! Or simply say you'd love to come along to Porteau Cove!

Here's an excerpt from the BC Parks page about diving Porteau Cove:

"A series of man-made reefs and two sunken vessels provide excellent scuba diving opportunities. Depths vary from 6m to 18m (20' to 60'). Be cautious of changing tides and strong in and outflow winds. Penetration of vessels is not recommended. The diving area is marked by a series of marker buoys. Various fascinating marine life has established itself throughout the dive area. Harvesting or harassment of marine life is prohibited within the park's marine foreshore. Diving from a boat is prohibited within the park boundary. There is a diver's building located within the park which provides cold showers and a change area. These showers are turned off during the summer months because two outdoor showers are provided for the same purpose. There are steps that lead down to the water's edge that are located in the main parking lot."

Although, now that I read that, I have to say actually diving there is waaaaay cooler than this description.

LETS GO DIVING!!

Diving in the Pacific Northwest

I hope you all had a great weekend of our first kiss of the winter to come. If you are new to diving here in the Pacific NW, welcome. I have been diving in this area for quite some time and can never seem to get enough of Pacific NW diving. I have dove in Brazil and both sides of Mexico and still, my favorite place to dive is the local waters of the Pacific Northwest. We have so much life in such a small area, it is amazing.

We don't have a lot of large animals and corals to look at, however we have walls and boulders full of small nudibranchs, sculpins, gunnels, war bonnets, anemones and many, many other species of aquatic life. We have wolf eels, octopus and lingcod to name a few, that represent our larger aquatic life here in the Northwest. Since we have so much smaller aquatic life, we dive a bit slower and check out all the nooks and crannies to see what we can find. Every time we dive in we find something of value to share, even if it is just an awesome scuba diver.

You may of heard that winter time is the best time to go diving around here, and it's absolutely true. Since it is winter, the sun does not shine as much which in turn brings down the algae blooms, and we all know the less algae in the water the better the visibility. The air temperature may be colder in winter, but the temperature of the water remains a contant. I went diving last week in the San Juans and my computer read the water at a 46 degrees. The water is a beautiful green and vis is quite a bit better in winter than summer. We can get up to 30 foot vis! I know compared to 100ft vis this may not seem like much but it makes a big difference.

Since we dive in colder waters, we need to make sure that we are prepared both under the water and on our surface interval between dives. Like I mentioned earlier, I have been diving in this area for some time. When we had last weekend's storm warnings I had received a lot of calls and emails on the diving conditions. I have to admit this has been the first time in all the years that I have been working with a shop that I had so many questions about diving this time of year. As scuba divers, we hear this question, "What do you see down there?" Which we always give a good chuckle to. Last week I got some really good questions.

My favorite question that I had gotten was, "How do you dive in the snow?" Diving in the snow is very similar to diving in the rain but the rain is frozen into nice soft flakes. You make sure that you dress appropriately. If diving in a drysuit, make sure to bring extra layering in case you got to cold on your first dive you can add more layers. Drysuit divers need to pack extra dry clothes to change into after a dive, in case of leaks or flooding in the drysuit. If you dive a wetsuit, make sure that you pack extra big coats and blankets to bundle yourself into between dives. Pack some hot water to put into your gloves and hood before returning back into the water. Surprisingly, it is much warmer in the water than out on shore. Before getting into the water and during the surface interval it is very important to keep yourself warm. Wear gloves and a thick hat that covers your ears. Wear socks and closed shoes. I know that we like to wear socks and sandals but wearing closed shoes will help not get your feet wet. Pack some hand warmers to put into your pockets or between your double layered socks to keep extra toasty warm. Make sure not to put them directly on your skin and be aware that higher levels of O2 in your diving mix can make those babies a bit hotter!

"When do you cancel a dive because of weather?": This question is one of the hardest things that I first had to deal with in diving. I would prepare all my gear for the trip and I would also get mentally prepared for the trip. I would get all the way to the dive spot and have to be told that it is not safe for us to enter the water. I got certified in Jan-Feb so it was cold. It was not the cold weather that permitted me from getting in the water but the wind waves where a bit to much for a new diver. To be perfectly honest on how to answer this questions is that you won't know until you get to the dive site. Choosing a location that is a better fit for the wind like we did last weekend. The Keystone dive was moved to Langley Tire Reef and the Charter was moved from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. Both of those areas are well protected making diving a possibility. You should always have a backup plan in effect. Just like when we plan our dives under the water. We should also have a backup dive site just in case it is un-diveable.

What makes us proud to say we are Pacific NW divers is the fact that the adventure is not just under the water. It is the trip to and from the dive sites that add to the adventure. Make sure that you always let someone know what your plans are and also your backup plans. The most important piece of advice that I can give you is to never dive outside your comfort zone. I know that I preach that all the time but I really can't say it enough. Don't be afraid to admit that something is out of your comfort level so you can re-plan accordingly. I know that there has been situations that I have been in that where uncomfortable but I was always with someone to help guide me and teach me to learn to prepare myself to grow outside my comfort zone.

If you are excited about getting into the water this winter, or even continue diving this winter. Come on in and talk with me. I have a lot of suggestions that can make diving around here very comfortable. Take advantage of this blog to ask your questions of other divers so they can share their experience with you. We all learn from each other but we truly learn the skill by doing it ourselves.

Happy and safe diving. I will mention that I will be leaving to Cozumel on Sunday to do some warm water diving. I will be thinking of you. lol =)

Jingle Bell Dive and Food Drive

For those that are joining us for the Jingle Bell dives this weekend make sure that your scuba outfit is deck out in a holiday attire.

Most importantly, please remember that we are collecting items for the Bellingham Food Bank. They have requested non-perishables and perishable food items. This time of year they are really in a need for fresh veggies, oranges, apples, milk, cheeses, meats and sliced bread. We will bring coolers along to help store these items. For canned goods: veggies, fruits and proteins (like canned meat or re-fried beans).

If you are unable to make the dive this weekend and still would like to help. Please bring your items to Gone Diving and we will make sure that it gets brought over to them. We have a refrigerator here to keep the items cool.

Thank you all in advanced in helping our neighbors and our community.

Dive Buddy Weekly

Here's the thread for Dec. 8th - 14th...

Looks like there's some good opportunities for diving this weekend with the charter and shore dive at Keystone, and what not... let's jingle some bells, collect some food for the canned food drive, and go DIVING! Who's in?

Jake, Scott, Kurt and I dove at 100' Rock yesterday (Sunday). The dives were great, although the "100' Rock" is probably only more like 25' - 30'. It's a big rock, sure, but maybe it's called 100' since at high tide the bottom is at about 100'. The top of the rock is only at 70'. I'm no mathologist, but that puts it at about 30' tall. I got to use my new dry suit for the first time. It was AWESOME.

Moderately difficult entry/exit, a relatively long surface swim and a big-ass rock as the attraction. Watch out for the trains. Over all it's a good dive.

Group Gone Diving is going to Keystone (shore dive) and Anacortes (charter) for a fun jingle dive. You must wear something of holiday spirit on your dive gear. You must also bring canned food donations for the Bellingham Food Bank. Kevin Lynch is going to be collecting for both groups and taking it over to the Food Bank. After the dives, the two groups will be meeting up at the Rock Fish in Anacortes for some story swaping time. All ages welcome!

Dive Buddies Weekly

Hey hey, here's the thread for Dec. 1 - 7

...wait... it's December already?! Jeeze... time to go diving!

Well, diving in December does make a lot of sense; good visibility, fewer tourists clogging the parking lot... not to mention how cool it is to surface from a dive and see gigantic fat snow flakes falling when there was no snow at the start of the dive. Yeah, that was really...really... cool.

Shout out, find a dive buddy!

Where/when do YOU want to go diving?

Jingle Bell Dive

The Charter Boat Trip on December 13 aboad the Naknek (pronounced Knack-Neck) is hereby officialy proclaimed as the "Jingle Bell Dive".  What is the Jingle Bell Dive you say?  Well this dive happens to take place the same day as the Jingle Bell run, so I stole the idea.  Please adorn your scuba gear with jingle bells or other Christmas related items.

We also thought it would be cool to have people bring food to donate to the Bellingham Food Bank.  If you are able, please bring a non-perishable item and I will bring it by the Food Bank when we get back from the charter.

Gman's Adventures

hola everyone,

today is our final day in colombia as we are flying to Lima, Peru tomarrow. we had many an adventure in colombia: diving, snorkling, hiking to ancient cities, chasing insects, hanging with the locals, exotic fruits, paragliding, repelling down waterfalls, river rafting, cliff jumping, spalunking, canyoning, museums, we even climbed a mountain to Laguna de Iguaque where, legend has is, a woman emerged from its waters carrying a child and when the child was old enough they married and gave birth to the earth's population, we beat mario cart on the wii, and aparently i can dance salsa... who knew? seriously, anyone?

we will be spending a few days in Lima and perhaps try to surf the coast until we fly to Iquitos, which sits at 170m in the Amazon Basin. there we will be spending the weekends and seeing the sights and monday through friday we will be working with a volunteer organization called desarolloamazonico. this involves a 45min boat ride up the amazon river to a small pueblo called santa clara 2 zone where we will be living with a host family and helping with agricultural work and development as well as educating the locals in environmental preservation, sustainability, and english. we are supposed to be teaching them many things but something tells me that there is no way that they will get out of it what warren and i will. we are very excited to be adventuring into the amazon and the head of this organization is an entomologist himself so we'll have someone to chase bugs with.

i hope to be constructing a tejo course when i get back, its a game they play here that's a lot like horeshoes, but with firecrackers.

love johnnnnnn

Group Gone Diving report from Langly tire reef

I just got home from a great day of diving. 9 of us went to the tire reef today.  Myself, the Hoyts, McNett girls, Trevor and Lindsey, Carrie Anne and Rebecca.  We had  good vis. about 30 feet and saw so many different fish I couldn't keep track. The great thing is that it did not rain on us and the open water class shared their hot dogs with us. It was so much fun to hang out with 18 other divers. Some of the gang went to the Longhorn in Bow afterwards. Congratulations to the new divers, see you underwater soon.

What a great community of people we have!

What a great showing we had last night. Thanks to all 25 people that showed up to show your support. Also, thanks goes out to the emails and phone calls in support, for those that where unable to make this event. I will go into more detail in my Enews about how it all shook out. Yes, the Enews will be out soon. There is quite a bit to report on this time. All the latest dive gear from DEMA, upcoming classes and trips. Of course, we will also have a list of the next upcoming Group Gone Diving dives.

The Bench dive for December is up for discussion. What would you like to do? I have heard bowling, Movie night (renting some scuba flick) game/costume party/potluck. Let me know what you would like to do to keep them going.

Koons and Jake are going to be doing some exploration dives on Sunday. Hopefully one of them will blog on here to let you know the date and time. Last night they said 3pm at Boulevard Park. Make sure you have a surface flag float when diving out there.

What are you going to be for Halloween? Post your pictures tomorrow of you dressed up! We can have a costume party and vote on the best costume. You have until midnight on Halloween to post your costume. If you have problems posting just email them to me and I will post them.

Now go spook someone!

Gman's Adventures

greetings charlynn

and fellow gone divers. it has been a couple weeks since my last communication and since i have spent some time in the caribean; hiking, swimming, snorkling, drinking, and of course diving.

charlynn, i must thank you for your tutelage and all of the energy and attention that you put into your diving, teaching and your gone divers. i did 2 dives out of taganga, colombia with a decent outfit, there were many to choose from in taganga. the first dive was awesome, max depth of 75ft, bottom time 57min, visibility at 40-50ft. since i have never been diving outside of the pacific northwest everything i saw on the dive was new to me, as well as the 3mm shorty wet suit. we saw puffer fish, morray eels, another type of eel that had a goatie, parrot fish, and even an octopus amongst massive amounts of coral. they provided us lunch at a secluded cabana where we did some cliff jumping and then off to dive number 2.

there were 3 divers and an instructor on the trip, a down right dude from canada with a scottish accent and this dude from holland who was my dive buddy. we met in the dive shop before we left and the first thing that he said to me was "be sure and stay close to your buddy", i thought of course and he proceeded to inform me that it is south america and they have different rules and ways of life and the situation can turn in an instant, so i took his advice and stayed close and kept an eye on him as well. so we get to the dive sight and the helpers on the boat had switched out our tanks for us while we were eating lunch, i noticed and thus did some extra checks and adjusting before we entered the water. so, i distinctly recall turning on my air in my checks, got in the water, helper dudes inflated my bcd and dropped it in the water for me, put it on, checked my guage, and submerged with the crew. when we got to depth, 35ft, i took some breaths and attempted to neutralize my bouancy when the air stopped. i immediatly thought to drop my weights and head to the surface but paul was close and i made it to his octopus and had him check my air... it was off, the helper dudes, just trying to help, had turned it off thinking they were turning it on. everything was fine in the end but the experience had put me in a fowl mood for the 45min dive following and every little thing bugged me after that and didnt necessarily ruin the dive but didnt allow me to enjoy it. for most of my dive, though i was reflecting on all of the extra energy and attention that charlynn and her entourage of dive experts and entusaists pay to their fellow students and gone divers. not everyone is there to make sure that you are safe and especially to make sure that when something does happen under water, that you have the knowledge and the confidence to handle whatever may come your way... and you will have that time when not everything goes according to plan or flows perfectly, this was not my first potentially bad dive experience and i dont expect it to be my last which means you will be seeing me in the water again and again and again and again, and i hope to see you all at my next gone diving upon my return to the states in december. so remember, you cant check your equipment too much, especially if it is not your own.

i love you guys, and all hale charlynn, queen of all sea-ciety

Vegas Baby

Viva Las Vegas! Yes, we are in Vegas. As I type this right now, I am sitting on the balcony of our hotel in my swim suit. I am sweating profusely with my computer on my lap. I thought I would give you all an update of what Vegas is doing today. Sunny. I guess they stop using air conditioners around here. With global warming happening, Vegas is doing there part. Since they can't turn out their lights to save on energy. They have turned off the air conditoners. I guess what I am saying is that I didn't pack real well. I did bring 4 pair of shoes with me though!

Here is a view from our hotel, the fabulous Sahara!

Tomorrow we have lots of seminars to attend and walk the floor. I will let you know what cool things are out in the world of scuba that you don't quite know about yet. Jake, CAndy and myself are out to go look for a costume for me!

Awesome showing for the third annual UWPCC at Rosario Beach. What a great time we had, along with beautiful weather. We met at 10ish and helped load over supplies over to the picnic tables, buddied up and let the game begin. The rules were simple. HipHopOpotomis: Disco & Caiti
Knicho: Wes & Techno
The 3 sum: Jason K, Chris & Jake

The pumpkins are on display at Gone Diving if you want to come by and check them out.

This weekend coming up is Edmonds Underwater Park. Meeting at Gone Diving at 7am, Edmonds at 9am. There was talk of going to Canada for a charter but not enough interest was shown.

Candy, Jake and myself leave for Vegas, Monday night for DEMA. We are going to go check out the latest and greatest in the diving industry. If there is anything you are interested in I can keep you updated from the show. Since I am unable to be apart from my computer to long.

If anyone has any other pictures from this weekend post them to me and I will get them up.

Thanks again to everyone who showed up. You guys rock!

UWPCC #3

Alright everybody, get ready for some fantastic underwater craving extravaganza! The time is here once again for you to sharpen your knives, put on some weight and carve. We will be meeting at Gone Diving, in back, at 8:30am for anyone who needs to get rentals. If you are looking for carpool buddies, this will also be the meeting place. Need to be on the road by 9am. Meeting at Rosario Beach at 10 am.

Things to know about the park situation. I have paid for a park permit for us to use the park with restrooms. The gate will still be closed. If you have a wagon, cart or anything with wheels that can help haul in dive gear, that would be really appreciated if you brought it along. If it is not a great weather day, we will setup potluck items under the covered picnic area. Remember, this is a chili cook off also, for those that think that make good chili. If it is a absolutely fabulous day, I will bring my EZ up and we will setup on top of the hill with the picnic tables. I am sure we will get it figured out when we get there.

Rules of participation: must have c-card, bring your own pumpkin, do not pre-carve or trace on your pumpkin before the start. There will be a set carving time where you gut your pumpkins, gear up, get into the water and be back to shore. Must have a buddy system in place. If you don't have a buddy, don't worry we can get you one.

Just so you know what some of us are planning for the rest of the weekend, in case you want to join us. After the carving activities, some will dive Rosario. Plans for a night dive at Langley Tire Reef. We will be camping at Deception state park Saturday night. I am not sure what is going on for diving on Sunday. I am flying out on Monday so no diving for me! I am off to Vegas to get the best costume ever! Ok, maybe not the best.

Let me know what you planning on bringing for food wise and who is coming.

If you would like to purchase an UWPCC T-shirt let me know what size and quantity. The order will be placed Monday after the event.

adventures of scott and jake

Jake and I went to check out a new dive site today.   Wow the visibility was very good 50+ feet.  The name of the site was 100' rock in Lynnwood.  The entry and exit was a challenge as we had to walk 100 + yards then climb down  some big rocks to get to the water.  It sounds like work but it was worth it. One giant rock surrounded by sandstone cliffs with holes. The rock was about 30' tall and about 100' around. Covered with life: tunicates, nudibranchs, sponges and even a grunt sculpin.  The cliffs surrounding the rock had tons of life in the holes: gunnels, sculpins and a juvenile wolf eel. The base of the rock was in 90 to 100 feet of water.  For a shore dive I rate this in my top ten.

Please join us next week for Underwater Pumpkin Carving or on the 25th for Group Gone Diving at Brackets landing (Edmonds underwater park).

A big shout out to the new divers that finished up today see you underwater soon.

Ask Jake about his new 2nd stage.

Bench Dive October 29th, 6:30pm

What do you think about an underwater park in Bellingham?

Mark your calendars for October 29th, 6:30pm at Gone Diving. The Port of Bellingham is coming in and talking to us about the direction the Waterfront is going. This will be a really exciting event since we will get a sneak peak of what the city has planned for the new waterfront property. The best thing, is that we will get to talk to him about the possibility of doing an underwater park. Similar to what the city of Edmonds has done. Tell everyone you know that might be interested about this event. If we have a great showing the Port might be just as excited about this project as all of you are! Get ready to bring all your ideas to the table.

We should do a potluck event, if you are interested. Post what you would like to bring.

On another note. It was recently just brought to my attention that Rosario Beach is closed for the winter. What does this mean to us as divers? I called the Parks department and talked with the main guy to find out what the story was. The gates and restrooms will not be opened for the winter. You can still access the park but you must park outside the gates. Okay, now you might be asking, what about our Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest? No worries, I took care of it. I applied for a special day use permit. This will grant us the privilege of using the facilitates with parking inside the park and use of the restrooms.

One other thing to mention. I am thinking about doing a charter out of Horseshoe Bay on the SeaDragon on October 25th. I know Scott has planned a dive to Edmonds Underwater Park already but for those who have been to Edmonds already, here is another option. Let me know ASAP if you are interested. We need 8 of us total to pull it off.

Alright already, get out there and go diving!

Lake Whatcom Underwater Cleanup

Thanks to all 25 of you that came out to help clean up our lake. We cleaned up Bloedel-Donavan Park's boat launch area and headed west to the swim area. The area that we covered was approx. 300x50 yards. This was a small area for the amount of trash that we pulled up and out. The best find was a jar of pickled pigs feet. Yummy. Ron found a fin that was lost from a student of mine from two years ago! You can see the slide show posted on this blog on all the trash that we pulled out.

This event was a lot of fun. I have to admit this was the first time I have organized a full event like this. I unfortunately over looked a really important part. Where do you put all that trash once you pull it out?

I just assumed that we would have been able to take it to our local waste services. We did after all, donate our time to cleanup up a very controversial topic here in town. This lake is our drinking water. If you had a chance to see the huge pile of trash that was pulled out of a very small area, you would have been disgusted. Bystanders on the shore were amazed how much trash was pulled out. Here where the most common questions, "Where did you get that trash from?" The lake. "How did it get there?" People put it there. Seems simple. People dropped the trash, we donated our time to pick it up, collect it, separate it and bag it. We thought it would be no big deal to just to take it to our local waste services. I was wrong.

After a few trips around town, (thanks Jake!) the trash finally found it's home. We had to pay for it to be taken away. So next time you turn on your tap for some water. Think about your local hero's that took the time out of their days to help make your water that much better.

The estimated weight, easily weighed 500 pounds! The cans were 25 pounds just by themselves.

Once again, thanks to all of you who came out to help. You are all amazing and should be proud of a great day of community service!

The Gman's Adventures

hey there chimichummies,

i tried to reply to the gone diving blogs but i couldnt get on my blogger account. anyways, bogota is totally *itchin. last night we partied with guillermo vives who is the brother of a famous colombian singer named carlos vives. guillermo owns a restaurant that doubles as a night club that he sings at with his band. he gave me the scoop on the diving in santa marta where i will be in 2 weeks. its the south end of the caribean sea and there is a lot of current so its basically drift city. tomorrow we leave for 5 days of river rafting, hangliding, waterfall repelling, horse back riding, hiking and debotchery. our friends here are very generous, as is the colombian culture. sorry for the lack of transitioning.... the other day we were on walk about around the city and there was this bum on the side of the busy road, just a bum, no one was paying attention to him, but this image is burned into my mind and i am trying to draw a picture of it. this guy had the nastiest, gaping wound that was once his ankle but is now a hole with a knife stuck straight down from the top, into his ankle, perpendicular to the ground and probably just rests right above the bottom of his heal. i cant get it out of my head.

anyways, happy diving. i will be in touch.

dear charchar and scotzilla,

i made it safely to colombia and its been raining for a while, but we caught some sun breaks yesterday. the coffee is good, the hot betties are few and far between, i think we just have to find out where they are hiding. leaving for the santander region on monday for river rafting, waterfall repelling, horsy riding and getting drunk. hope the sale goes well, and the sports bar thing, and the lake whatcom cleanup. happy adventures to you all.

Group Gone Benchdiving

What a great turn out last night at Extremes. JoLynn, Britt (.5 ND), Joe, Scott, Jake, Jason, Hailey (ND), Joshwaht, Eye Candy Andy, Tim, Tara, Kevin, Christina and myself. We played some Wii, ate some pizza and had some great pickles! They make those pickles in house, sweet but nice and spicy!

We talked about our upcoming event, which will be October 22nd at Gone Diving, 6:30pm. We are going to have the Port of Bham come in and talk to us about the planning and redevelopment of The Waterfront District. We specifically asked them to be prepared for us to talk about doing an underwater park. If you are interested in attending please let me know so we can plan accordingly.

You all have heard about the Massive Scuba Event by now, I am sure. Be prepared to come early, there is ALOT of buzz about this one. Free regulators and gift certificates, oh my! Beach cleanup on Sunday.

If you have any other ideas for group bench dives let us know. I heard something about a costume party! Sounds like that would be crazy.

Thanks all for coming last night, it was really great to see you all there! You are an awesome group!

Last Tour de Forts

The summer is now officially over. I think now, I am really looking forward to going to Cozumel this coming holidays. I am up for a beating from the warm sun. Aaaahhhh warm sun.

So yes, it was raining this weekend for our last Tour de Forts at Keystone. I made it over Saturday night for the night dive. There was up to 4 octopus spotted! In the morning Adam, Heather, Jaketwo, Laura, Jason, Scott, Jake, John, Disco, Caiti, Techno, Ron, Tori, Zack, Shawn, Chad, Melissa, Brad and myself did some dives on Sunday. The vis was amazing. Some of us did the pilings, some the jetty and some did the drift. The sun did come out when we where all done diving so that was awesome.

Post to let me know if you came earlier. I know that there was a bunch of people that came out over Thursday to Sunday, What is your story, how was your dive/camping adventure. Any photos? Jake gave me his so I will get those posted later this week.

Remember we have our group get together for a bench dive this Wednesday at 6:30pm, at Extremes. We will be getting together to plan our next couple of months. Now that the good diving is just getting started! Super exciting!

Rat Fish at Langley

What an awesome weekend! We still have quite a bit of algae bloom in the water. The open water class did the rounds at Alki, Cove 1 and Langley Tire Reef. Like always, it was awesome! Langley has such abundance of life on it right now. Adam and Heather McAbee and myself saw a rat fish at 21 feet off the tire reef. Crazy, the floor was crawling with crabs. If you have not collected crabs underwater before, that is a great place to do it. Make sure you have your shellfish license.

Get ready for the last Tour de Forts at Fort Casey. This is going to be a fun event for all. If you are unable to make it for the full weekend, no worries, join us for the day.

Jason and myself will be at the Skagit County Fairgrounds at the Business to Consumer Expo. If you know someone that is between the age of 8-18 that would like to discover scuba in a pool, send them our way. We will be there until they close or nobody is around. Then we will sneak off to the campground to join the group camping.

Does anybody have any other plans or events happening this weekend?

Congratulations goes out to our Open Water students that finished their dives this weekend. Great job certified divers! BTW, Nick (our weekend guy) is now a certified diver. Come on in and let him know it was about time!

Great weekend

Did anyone go diving this weekend? Where did you go? What did you see? I did a Rescue class at Rosario beach on Saturday. It was a beautiful day with not so bad vis. Congratulations, go out to Holly P, Carrie Anne K and Tim B for passing their Rescue class.

Spent the rest of my weekend in the YMCA ool, (please keep the p out). Not so bad vis, beautiful hair balls. No band aids to be found. 8 new students soon to be out in the big ocean!

What was your adventure?

Welcome!

This blog is an opportunity for divers, people interested in diving, or any cool peeps to get together online and share thoughts, ideas and information. We are also planning to have get-togethers once a month at different Bellingham-area locations, just to socialize and have some fun.

Our first meet-n-greet will be on September 24th at 6:30pm at Extremes Sports Grill. There are tons of cool things to do there (Wii, pool, darts...) and some good food and beverages!

Let us know what you think....
