Diving Buddies Weekly!

So...

In the spirit of Group Gone Diving...

I'd like to start a weekly Buddy thread, for people trying to find buddies to go diving with. Hopefully these weekly threads will help people connect for places and times to go diving, in addition to all the great Group Gone Diving adventures that are scheduled.

Check the weekly thread and post your interests in diving!

Speaking of...

Where is Porteau Cove in B.C.? Do you have to have a passport to go into Canada? Is this place ok for Beginner divers? Please tell me more about this place. We would love to go if we can.

Porteau Cove is about 85 miles north, a little past Horseshoe Bay in B.C. (about a 1 hr, 45 min drive).

You do not currently need to have a passport, but if you don't have one, bring a birth certificate and a driver's license. (With just a driver's license, you're taking your chances on the whims of the border guards... I don't recommend it).

The site is similar to the Edmonds underwater park, in that there are artificial structures for divers to explore. Also there are a couple sunken boats to check out.

It's a good site for beginners; it is a popular spot for local scuba dive training and dive lessons. Most of the dive attractions are between 20 and 60 feet.

More advanced divers can go to 90-100 feet to check out the minesweeper ship, Nakaya.

What would be the closest town to get a hotel ya think.
Has any one got the border thing on there license for Canada?
This sounds like a great time.

It can be done as a day-trip.

But if you want to stay overnight...

The Porteau Cove Provincial Park campground is open year round, with all amenities available til October 31st.

I think the closest hotel would be in Horseshoe Bay.
