Well, I guess the visibility wasn't too bad this last weekend. Sounds like it cleared up pretty nicely once you dropped below 20'.
Who's up for diving this weekend (or anytime this week) ?
And on a side note, who do you know that wants to get certified to go diving? Do you have a friend, or family member interested?
They may look at you like you're nuts, but now's a great time to get certified.
Seriously, visibility is the best in winter. Dry suit certification can be added to your Open Water and they can go diving with you! Check at Gone Diving for the actual dollar amount and the full deal, but basically you can save a crap ton of money if you do the dry suit cert in addition to Open Water... something like $125 I think.
So now, who wants to go diving?

What's up on Sunday? Anyone? Skyline? Keystone? Langley? Break in to Rosario?
I like diving. :) Last weekend at Keystone was good. I might be up for some more...
I can't go on Saturday, but I might be down for Sunday... I wouldn't mind doing Skyline again. Or Keystone.
I am going night diving at Alki Cove 2 on Saturday. Anyone interested my join us. Maybe I will see the illusive six gill shark. Nice plug for the diving there Joshwaht!
Have you heard that Austin Koons finished his first AquaMission? This is true. If you are a friend with him on facebook give him a shout out and some congrats in order! That was a big deal to make it to the bottom of the YMCA ool (please keep the P out). His first mission was to be able to equalize his ears to get to the bottom. He had been in the pool four times before that and was unable to. This time he was up for the mission! Way to go Austin! BTW - Austin is 11. He started pool diving when he was 10. I wish that I could say that.
I just realized I have Monday off, so that opens it up for diving.
Anyone want to go diving on Monday?
That's awesome for Austin! Scuba divers are chick magnets. I wish I had started that early.
HIGH FIVE!
I could be up for a Monday dive. What are you thinking of? It's good to be a county employee!
Hello Folks!
I am looking for a buddy/buddies who would like to go diving on Sunday January 18. I live in Oak Harbor. I am still a beginner with 54 logged dives so far. My level of training is Open Water right now. I dove to a max depth of 84Ft.
I dive with a BP/Wing, 5ft hose and my octopus is attached close to my neck with surgical tube. I want to point this out because I have noticed that this kind of gear can intimidate divers who use a regular BCDs and I don't want to make anybody feel uncomfortable.
I do most of my diving at Keystone, Driftwood Beach, Langley Marina and Rosario Beach.
I have dove at Skyline twice and one time at Glendale, a deep muck dive between Langley and Clinton.
With my buddy I usually practice skills every weekend and I am still getting used to my new gear.
I am a 'slow' diver which means that I am not in hurry when I dive, I want to take my time to descend properly and being able to equalize my ears well (sometimes I do have problems in equalizing).
Underwater I go slowly too, I am not one of those guys who want to cover as much ground as possible. I am interested in taking pictures (when it is appropriate) so that slows me down even further.
If you think that I may be the buddy that you are looking for give me a buzz!
Cheers

Ok, scratch Keystone. I guess the tides aren't that great. I'm going to play it by ear tomorrow. Carrie is going skiing instead.
Josh!
I have just read it your kind reply.
Thank you!
Well...I did go diving at Keystone yesterday, Sunday, after all! I know what you mean when you wrote that you cancelled your dive there because of the current. ..
My buddy and I initially wanted to do a drift dive at Admiralty (or Driftwood) Beach, but when we got there we saw that somebody had taken the portable toilet away, so, considering that my buddy was feeling a bit under the weather, we decided to go to Keystone (with its cozy toilets) and drift from the pilings to the jetty.
We surface swam to the pilings and wanted to submerge there and go between the pilings but the current was rather strong (about 3.5 kt) that we had to embrace a piling each with our arms to keep ourselves steady and being able to talk to each other and quickly changed our plans!
I have been there with some current before snorkeling but I must admit that that current was making me a bit nervous.
We then decided to push ourselves to the corner of the pilings near shore and let the grip go and descended while the current was dragging us south-west.
I slowly began to relax and by the time we reached the bottom, which was not deep at all, the tide was pretty low, and realized that the current was not as strong as on the surface I felt pretty much OK again.
So off we went drifting away following the rope at 40 ft toward the jetty. Then the current changed direction and began to push us east back to the pilings, we did not fight it and drifted the other way, after a while it was time to head back to the beach.
Man! What a ride!
elisabetta-
